Description
Critical incident stress debriefing is a structured, precise crisis intervention session that First Responder’s who have been involved in a traumatic event can use to overcome stressful experiences and increase the use of healthy coping mechanisms. One of the many ways that critical incident stress debriefing can help First Responders cope with stressful or traumatic experiences is by normalizing the effects and feelings they may experience in the aftermath. The session exposes what may be experienced speaking to specific examples including appetite changes, insomnia, intrusive thoughts and sadness. The session will open dialogue and provide reassurance to the First Responder that what they’re experiencing is normal, natural, and valid.
