This session is designed to provide the First Responder starting their professional career with information and resources to help them to understand the nature and impacts of psychological stressors of their work, normal and expected responses and how to set themselves up with a framework of support pillars structured to themselves as individuals to manage the stressors which will come during their career. Support resources specific for family members are discussed related to the First Responder’s organization as well as vetted resources available externally.

Description
The session focuses on overall health status self reflection and facilitators guide the participants in review of opportunities for enhancing their health, learning strategies to change thought processes and how that impacts action and habits. Description
Critical incident stress debriefing is a structured, precise crisis intervention session that First Responder’s who have been involved in a traumatic event can use to overcome stressful experiences and increase the use of healthy coping mechanisms. One of the many ways that critical incident stress debriefing can help First Responders cope with stressful or traumatic experiences is by normalizing the effects and feelings they may experience in the aftermath. The session exposes what may be experienced speaking to specific examples including appetite changes, insomnia, intrusive thoughts and sadness. The session will open dialogue and provide reassurance to the First Responder that what they’re experiencing is normal, natural, and valid.

Description
