Our Goal
We believe nurses facing personal challenges deserve care that respects both their needs and their profession. Our focus is to support healing while helping nurses return to safe and effective practice.
Philosophy
The Nurses’ Health Program is founded on the belief that nurses experiencing substance use or mental health challenges deserve access to education, treatment, and recovery opportunities. We recognize that nurses benefit from care tailored to their unique roles and responsibilities within the healthcare system.
Our approach is grounded in balancing support for nurses in recovery with our commitment to public safety. We are confident that, with appropriate resources and guidance, nurses can safely continue or return to practice.

Why NHP was Created
Mental health and addiction can affect anyone. Without the right care, these issues may impact a nurse’s ability to practice safely. NHP was developed to offer help before problems grow. It was launched across the province in 2019.
How NHP Operates
NHP is a nonprofit led by a board with members from each supporting group.
